How to Listen to Preaching of the Word

2 Timothy 2:7Amplified

Think over these things I am saying [understand them and grasp their application], for the Lord will grant you full insight and understanding in everything.

I have been listening to Kenneth Copeland Ministry's West Coast Believers Convention this I past week; downloaded from ITunes. Kenneth Copeland talked about really hearing someone's message they are preaching. I got to thinking about that. We can listen to very good teaching of the Word of God but we walk away and a couple of hours later your mind goes blank about what was preached. Each week Pastor Diana preaches very good messages that are Holy Spirit inspired messages. They are filled with the word of God that we need to get into our hearts. We need it to take root in our spirits and renew our minds to the truth of the Word that we hear preached.

Romans 12:2 Amplified

Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].

No matter who you are listening to and how trust worthy the person is you need to get into the Word of God for yourself. You need to believe and receive the Word of God from God's Word itself and not just because someone said it was in the bible. That's how the Word becomes living to you.

How to really hear a message of God's Word:

• Bring a pen & paper to church each week and take notes!!
• During the week use those notes for bible study.

  2Timothy 2:15 Amplified Study and be eager and do your utmost to present yourself to God approved (tested by trial), a workman who has no cause to be ashamed, correctly analyzing and accurately dividing [rightly handling and skillfully teaching] the Word of Truth.

• Reread each scripture that was given, meditate on it, go over and over it in your mind, & read it out loud. Faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word.

  Romans 10:17 Amplified So faith comes by hearing [what is told], and what is heard comes by the preaching [of the message that came from the lips] of Christ (the Messiah Himself).

• Personalize it, put yourself in it.

  Philemon 1:6That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.

• Get the CD of the message and listen to it over and over.
