NAHUM 1:7 THE LORD IS GOOD, A STRONG HOLD IN THE DAY OF TROUBLE; AND HE KNOWETH THEM THAT TRUST IN HIM.
Well 2008 is gone except for the history books. The old saying is so true that time stands still for no man. How are you going into 2009, with a renewed faith? Looking for more miracles and answers to prayers that we have been praying to God for? With a deeper love for the master and a deeper respect for his truth as well as a closer relationship with him. With each New Year it’s a chance to do more for the soon coming kingdom of our dear Lord. We are now closer than we have ever been to the coming of our Saviour. This last Christmas 08 our family started a new tradition with our grandson. We focus more on the real meaning of Christmas being Jesus’ birthday. Well he wanted to give Jesus a birthday card. So our daughter took him and bought a balloon with a beautiful ribbon and he made him a card. Well we went outside and let the balloon go and it was floating up and going toward a big tree. I thought to myself if it gets tangled that I could hear him say get it! I whispered please Lord and as it moved toward these limbs and moving up, just moved through the limbs. Right up through a fork in the limbs that I had not seen and up, up it went till we could no longer see it. I did not see that fork till it was at it and a lot of times we can’t see our way out. Well I almost cried as I thought this is just like the Lord has been in 08 and will be in 09. Places that looked impossible to clear it and make it through. Good news as well as bad news came into our ears and we whispered how would we make it. Not seeing a way with the natural eye and the mountains looming over us. By the grace and hand of God we were guided right through the storms, just as that balloon was guided up through the naked branches. The master has been faithful to his word and has made the devil a liar. The old song says “God is bigger that all my problems”. I go out of 2008 and say, “God has been good to me”. Even with surgery just a few days ahead me “ the day of trouble; and he knoweth them”. You know what your “ day of trouble” is in your life as well as the master knows. Faith is no good unless it is tried, and a lot of times it is tried by fire (1 Peter 1:7). We can look to the auther of our faith (Heb 12:2). In the many years that I have serve him he has never let me down and never will! We can rejoice in knowing that he is no respect of persons and will never let you down as well. What ever comes our way in this New Year, we can face it with the strength of the Lord and his word hid in our hearts, amen.
