Part 2

Eze. 22:30 Matt. 26:40-41 Mark 14:38

 

I. What is prayer (Luke 18:1 )

A. “Men ought always to pray” - no matter what the need or the problem

B. Prayer - communion, intercourse and the intermingling of two lives.

1. Intercourse means - intimate conversation, the act of sharing or holding in common.

2. Prayer is communion with God

C. God hears our prayer (Psa. 65:2)

II. Prayer is the communion between your spirit and the Living God (Gen. 3:8)

A. Adam communed with God in the cool of the day.

B. Webster’s dictionary defines “commune” as - to converse privately.

C. Adam and Eve talked intimately.

D. Fellowship is another word for communing. (Kononia)

1. When you are fellowshipping with another person you must keep the communication lines open.

2. When you don’t fellowship with God your communication lines are broken.

E. Prayer is vital to your life and existence.

III. Fellowship

A. Definition:

1. Companionship

2. Intimate Covenant partnership

3. Joint interest, being in union, in unity, being one with each other.

4. An association of people on the basis of similar tastes

B. It was His will to make us His children so that He could have intimate fellowship with us. (Eph. 1:4-5)

C. He has made us righteous, allowing us to approach the Father because we belong with Him. (2 Corin. 5:21)

D. If you are led by the Spirit of God you are a son of God. (Rom. 8:14-17)

E. You are no more a servant but a son (Gal. 4:6)

F. We have been given access to the very throne of God

1. To make our requests known unto Him.

2. One problem is that God can’t get His people to ask Him.

IV. God gave Adam Dominion and Authority (Gen 1:26 Psa. 8:4-6)

A. God gave Adam the lease on Earth

B. Adam gave the lease to Satan.

1. Satan’s lease over your life ended the day you realized your redemption IN CHRIST.

C. God has chosen to limit Himself to His own spiritual laws.

D. when we pray we give God a legal invitation to move on the earth.

E. God has to wait for an invitation before He can do anything.

1. Abraham started asking and God started moving

2. John Wesley “God is limited by our Prayer Life”

3. Charles Spurgeon “ whether we like it or not, ASKING is the rule of the Kingdom” ask and you will receive.

V. No one is exempt from asking

A. God wouldn’t even relax the rule of asking for Jesus - Jesus had to ask

1. Any failure that a Christian has in life is a prayer failure.

VI. Asking

A. To ask means - to request, to invite, to require, need and desire.

B. Ask and you will receive.

1. Matt. 7:7 Matt. 21:22 John 14:13

C. One secret of asking is abiding in Him. (John 15:7)

D. Whatsoever you ask the Father in Jesus’ Name He will give. (John 16:23 John 15:16)

E. Ask and you will receive and your joy will be full. (John 16:22)

F. God does beyond what we ask Him. (Eph. 3:20)

G. God gives wisdom liberally. (James 1:5)

1. Praying in the spirit will pull out the plans, purposes and mysteries of God.

2. We must ask in faith and confidence.

H. We have confidence when we ask because we know that He hears us (1 John 5:14-15)

1. His Will is His Word

2. Confidence = with Faith

3. When we know the Word, we know His Will, then we pray and ask according to His Word, His Will in Faith and we know we have what we asked for (believe we received)

4. Pray the solution - His Word and in the spirit.
