The Prayer of Intercession

 

Intercession can be defined as standing in the gap in prayer between a person or persons who have provoked judgment upon themselves to their wrongdoing and the actual execution of that judgment.”

Intercession-The act of earnest appeal; to mediate; to intervene; to plead on behalf of another; to hold back judgment; the act between two parties with the thought to reconcile the two.

Travail - (Webster’s definition) to toil; childbirth. Or labor.

Invoke - to call forth; put into operation or to bring about.

Provoke - to incite to anger; to call forth; to bring on; and to stir up on purpose.

Daysman - An Intercessor; an umpire; one who argues the case.

Job 9:32 For [he is] not a man, as I [am, that] I should answer him, [and] we should come together in judgment.

Job 9:33 Neither is there any daysman betwixt us, [that] might lay his hand upon us both.

Watchman - An Intercessor.

A watchman has close observation and is always on the alert.

A watchman is vigilant; he is awake

Isa 62:6 I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, [which] shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence,

Mat 26:40 And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?

Mat 26:41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed [is] willing, but the flesh [is] weak.

Mar 14:38 Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly [is] ready, but the flesh [is] weak.

Gregoreo - To be awake or vigilant (the Greek word for the “watch” is gregoreo)

The dictionary defines “watch” as keeping awake in order to guard.

It can also mean a close observation or to be on the alert.

Supplication - A humble, earnest entreaty or request.

Phi 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Eph 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

 

Jam 5:16Amp ……”The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available, dynamic in its working.”

Earnest - Ardent; zealous; sincere; serious; vehement; hot, burning and passionate.

Heartfelt - completely without reservation; profoundly felt and genuine.

Continued - on going; lasting; permanent; or persevering.

Righteous - virtuous or moral. (we are righteous by the blood of Jesus)

Make - to produce or create.

Much - great in quantity; abundance or a great deal.

Tremendous - immense; enormous; extraordinary and overwhelming.

Power - ability to act; strength; force or sway an authority.

Available - readily obtainable, accessible and usable.

Watch - keep aware in order to guard a close observation or to be on the alert.

Dynamic - intense, forceful potent, pertaining to force or energy.

Working - to perform, operate or function.

Paracletos - advocate
