REASONS WHY WE SHOULD PRAY IN TONGUES
Praying IN THE SPIRIT or praying in tongues is a right and privelidge we have as born again spirit filled believers. THIS LESSON SHOWS US IN THE WORD OF GOD WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE DO THIS. WHAT AN AWESOME WEAPON THAT WE HAVE THAT GIVES US THE ADVANTAGE IN THIS LIFE. PRAISE THE LORD FOR THIS!
THAT’S GOOD NEWS
THE HOLY SPIRIT IN US IS ALL POWERFUL, ALL KNOWING, NOTHING IS TOO HARD, NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR HIM. THE LORD JESUS HAS BAPTIZED US AND GIVEN THE HOLY SPIRIT TO US. GREATER IS HE THAT IS IN US THAN HE THAT IS IN THE WORLD!

1. TO GIVE BLESSING AND THANKS
1Co 14:15
What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.
1Co 14:16
Else when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned say Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest?
1Co 14:17
For thou verily givest thanks well, but the other is not edified.
2. TO EDIFY AND BUILD YOURSELF UP
1Co 14:4
He that speaketh in an [unknown] tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.
Jud 1:20
But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
3. TO GIVE REST AND REFRESHING
Isa 28:11
For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.
Isa 28:12
To whom he said, This [is] the rest [wherewith] ye may cause the weary to rest; and this [is] the refreshing:
4. TO PRAY THE PERFECT WILL OF GOD FOR YOURSELF AND FOR THE SAINTS.
5. TO PRAY FOR THE UNKNOWN TO WORK OUT FOR YOUR AND OTHER SAINTS’ GOOD
Rom 8:26(BBE)
And in the same way the Spirit is a help to our feeble hearts: for we are not able to make prayer to God in the right way; but the Spirit puts our desires into words which are not in our power to say;
Rom 8:27
And he who is the searcher of hearts has knowledge of the mind of the Spirit, because he is making prayers for the saints in agreement with the mind and will of God.

And we are conscious that all things are working together for good to those who have love for God, and have been marked out by his purpose.
1Co 14:2 For he that speaketh in an [unknown] tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth [him]; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.
1Co 14:14 For if I pray in an [unknown] tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.
6. TO PRAY AND SPEAK THE WISDOM AND PLANS OF GOD INTO EXISTANCE IN YOUR LIFE.
7. TO EXPERIENCE THE GOD-ORDAINED PLANS FOR YOUR GLORY.
1Co 14:2 For he that speaketh in an [unknown] tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth [him]; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries
1Co 2:7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, [even] the hidden [wisdom], which God ordained before the world unto our glory:
1Co 2:8
Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known [it], they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
1Co 2:9
But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
1Co 2:10
But God hath revealed [them] unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
1Co 2:11
For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
1Co 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know [them], because they are spiritually discerned
8. Wisdom promotes you, so praying in tongues brings promotion

Pro 4:7 Wisdom [is] the principal thing; [therefore] get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
Pro 4:8
Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.
Pro 4:9
She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.
9. Praying in Tongues brings wisdom, Counsel and Guidance
Pro 20:5 Counsel in the heart of man [is like] deep water; but a man of understanding will draw it out.
Joh 7:38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
Joh 7:39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet [given]; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
10. TO SPEAK AND PRAY IN A LANGUAGE THAT THE DEVIL CAN’T UNDERSTAND.

Act 10:44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Act 10:46
For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God.
12. TO WORSHIP GOD.
Joh 4:23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
Joh 4:24
God [is] a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship [him] in spirit and in truth.
13. BECAUSE ITS OUR RIGHT AND PRIVILEGE.(MARK 16:17 ACTS 2:4 JOHN 14:16-17AMP)
LAST POINT
WE SPEAK AND PRAY IN TONGUES AS THE HOLY SPIRIT GIVES US UTTERANCE, WE WILLINGLY DO IT. THE HOLY SPIRIT IS A GENTLEMAN HE WON’T FORCE YOU. YIELD YOURSELF TO HIM IN PRAYER AND YOU WILL SEE THE MIGHTY HAND OF GOD MOVE IN YOUR AND IN OTHER PEOPLE’S LIVES. GOD PROMISES THIS.
AND HE NEVER BREAKS HIS PROMISES TO HIS PEOPLE.
