    I was thinking.....

I was sitting drinking my tea this morning and thinking to myself, how do you bring someone back to their first love of Christ? Is it gentle admonition? Is it Leadership through self discipline and example? I am in a quandary and would welcome any thoughts that you my Brothers and Sisters could give. I am grateful everyday for this tool that I have been given for interaction with other believers, by nature I am shy and quite introverted. But with this wonderful place I can express myself without fear. Thank you all so very much.
P.S. Thank you all for your responses to my previous posts-

    Re: I was thinking.....

Hello and shalom ,sibling in Christ!  Doesnt the word of God say ,correct me please when I am wrong, that its the Grace of God that leads us to repentance. Fellowship with the Lord and knowing, knowing ,knowing that He never loves us any less when we mess up than He does when we might be laying hands on people and seeing them recover right before our eyes in His name.Accepting His Agape ,reading His word and just allowing The Prescious Holy Spirit to speak to us ,hold us and Love on us ,and learning more and more what He Jesus has given to us thru what He did for us .Its all about Him  and Him in us .He came here because He was thinking "ITs all about Me getting back my family, each and every one of them .Glory to God He LOVES us all so much. The more we get into His word and worship Him ,the more His presence is in and around us.He is so AWESOME And when we seek Him we fall in love over again daily with Him. He is waiting and wanting His Intimate time with you.Go keep your date with Him daily!

    Re: I was thinking.....

I think that first and foremost we have to get it out of our thoughts that it is anything that we do that gets a person to come to the Lord.  No man can come to God least they be Called, if you have to talk them into coming back, then you are responsible for their salvation and there is no way we can fulfill that job.  I heard it said "If you can talk someone into Christ then that person can be talked out of Christ."
The main thing I can say is pray.  Pray for the person, pray for yourself.  And then if God opens the door for you, then walk through.  Pray that the person would the height, the depth and the wideth of God's love for them.  Pray that God would give them a real understanding of what He did for that person, and what that person is doing to God by rejecting Him.  There have been a couple of people that God had be sit in prayer for and nothing else.  They are now walking with the Lord.  I'm not sure if some backslidders would recieve admonition, I mean the Bible talks about correcting a fool...and when someone walks away from God they are a fool.
I spent about 3 years away from God, and the thing that worked the best was people taking the time to say "I wanted to let you know that I am praying for you" or getting calls like "I was thinking about you today and remembering how on fire you were...What are you up to lately?"  Comments like these from people I knew who cared about me, reminded me of God's love.  Then I was also afraid that the Rapture would happen and I would be here without my children.  But I think that it is so important to pray the Fear of the Lord into believers, both those who are currently walking with the Lord and those who have fallen away.

    Re: I was thinking.....

When witnessing to another person...whether they have "back slidden" or haven't ever met the Savior...I would think the best way would be by example... If they see us living out what we believe..."God's Love"...the fact that what they see can get them questioning and curious...
I have been told that I am different...from what people have known Christians to be...and that alone is exciting because I know that they see more than just me...
I enjoy telling people what it is God has done in my life...from healings...(several, including my son)...to provisions...(a home, and vehicles)to just the fact that I am "happy and free"...
We need to be Christ to others...they need to see HIM in us...I believe that will bring about the change that the Lord wants for all...

    Re: I was thinking.....

Hey Ron, glad you opened up this thread. When I came to Jesus in 1995 I had two brother-laws who were my best drinking buddies. Neither one of them changed even after they knew for sure I had changed, no more booze, lying, running around, and so forth. I believe is/was like Jesus "coundn't do much in His home town", they still saw Him "as the boy next door", how could He be the Saviour (how could Jack change).
I am not comparing myself to Jesus, but my brother-in-laws had been with me when I was a bad boy. Others, that I didn't know before, are interested in what happened to me, (because I changed) they didn't know me before, all they see is now.
Hope you can understand what I am trying to say.
    Jack

jmac, don't give up on your brother-in-laws.   I believe the way to pray for them is to ask God to draw them to Him.  Pray that God sends the Holy Spirit to draw them to Him.  Continue to live your life for Jesus, and they can't help but notice something.  It may take some time, but just continue to pray and TRUST GOD!

Sometimes; I felt dry too. But after; much praying in the spirit; and reading the words; I could get back on my feet; longing for GOD.

From what I could understand; humans are spirit beings. To reach out and touch their lives; we have to be lead by the Spirit. If not, the word we sowed; by our effort; could be choked.

Sorry to post off topic, but I have a question for you Ada...

my friend told me that if you go into a McDonald's in Singapore or a near-by country to that, you can get breakfast dishes that are rice bowls with eggs in them??

Maybe we can start another discussion, but I was wondering if you have a McDonald's there and if their menu is different than ours??

    Thanks!

    Re: I was thinking.....

Hey jtturtle, thanks for the encouraging words. One of the brother-in-laws has passed. I found out after his passing that long ago he had an "experience" with God. The other one somewhat understands spiritual things, (part Indian) so hopefully all is not lost. I have started praying for my wifes family, siblings, every day. I apply the Blood, ask the Holy Spirit to draw them to Jesus, bind the devil away. Ask for peace and forgiveness in their lives.
    Love to all,
    Jack

    Jack,

Thx for being open. After all; that you have had shared; I sensed that you came a long way.

Through thick and thin; JESUS is with you so will HE be with your bro-in-laws. This is an assurance from GOD as JESUS claimed this “My Father; who has given them to me; is greater than all. No one can snatch them out of my Father’s hands” John 10:29

    Re: I was thinking.....

I have read books by Kenneth Hagin and in several he talks about his brother and how he had been praying for him fifteen years to be saved.  He had even fasted.  One day, he heard the Lord, in his spirit, challenge him.  He said, "You do something about it!"   Well, he finally did.  After God had shown him about the authority that we believers have, he said, "In the Name of Jesus, I break the power of the devil over my brother's life, and I claim his salvation!"  He was doing Luke 10:19.  He gave the order.  He did not keep saying it or praying it.
The devil tried to tell him his brother never would be saved, but he shut him mind off and started laughing.    He would say, "I don't think he'll be saved----I know it!   I took the Name of Jesus and broke your power over him and claimed his deliverance and salvation."  Within 10 days, his brother was saved.  THE WORD WORKS!

I did this with my neice and BOY.............are we EVER seeing the results.  WOW!  We must learn to exercise the authority we have been given by Christ.  We have authority in our family's life like this.  My neice is SO EXTREMELY different now.  She has really changed.  We have also prayed for my nephew as well and are seeing some big changes there as well.  GOD'S WORD WORKS!

I hope this has encouraged you.  And the person you speak about, he/she may even get a bit worse, but that  means he/she is coming around.   The enemy knows he HAS to let go.  HE HAS TO!

    Blessings,

Praise God!  I am SO glad that it helped you, Dee!
    Glory to God!
Believers need to REALLY realize what they have ............AUTHORITY.
We need to realize where we are seated..............in heavenly places with Jesus Christ.
We need to realize who we are ..............the Righteouness of God in Christ Jesus.
Religion and traditions have made the body so weak over time.  But Luke 10:19 tells us what WE can do because of what He did for us.
To think, THE KINGDOM OF GOD is IN ME and everywhere I go, I am taking the Kingdom of God with me.  When I touch people, HE touches them.  When I speak to people, He is speaking to them.  When I hug people, HE is hugging them.
I am in Him and He is in Me!  Wow!
To think I am seated WITH Him.....to think I AM THE RIGHTEOUSNESS of God in Christ.  WOW!
We can do anything because WITH GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE!  No one sets the limits but us.
    Glory to God!

    Have a great weekend!
    Blessings to you!
