Angry [:@] Argh, why'd you put ads on my blog?

Yes, it's true...some of you may have noticed that ads are appearing on your blog.

Before you write to us, please consider: this is a completely free site to you, but it is not free for us. We pay a monthly fee for a commercial-grade Internet connection (very expensive)...and in addition, we pay for cutting-edge servers to run the site on, software that drives the blogs/forums/etc, and of course staff to update/monitor/moderate the site (programmers & developers ain't cheap!). So please consider that for just a couple ads on your blog, we are offering all this to you for free.

We are not going to be removing the ads from blogs...at least not in the short term here. However, we are considering a paid account ($3 - $5 per month) that will have ads completely disabled for all pages, as well as many other perks. Also folks who make a sizable donation to CFAITH (probably $50 or greater) will be eligible to have ads disabled for one year. More on that later.

Of course, as always, if you see an unsavory ad that has slipped past our filters, please let me know.

I noticed that all the themes do not have them... If I switch to a theme that does not have one is that ok?

It really ruins the look to the blog...

You can, but eventually the ads are going to be on all the themes. See, my blog has 'em too.

    That's right Doc. Sad

You thought mine was the best looking but soon it won't be.

When did this start anyway? Surprise  I was going to try to start writing more but guess I won't. I  wanted to give people this blog address but I dont want Christians and ministers to see  some of these ads, Especially a few I saw last week were really terrible. And I think it cause a probem with my pc  since it started tha very day until now, when I finally got it taken care of, hopefully.

I wouldn't mind the ad's the members submit here. That's fine, but  Google can be anything imaginable online and then some,  and many not good at all.

A couple comments here: SpeaktheWord, the problem last week was with image ads...we have literally hundreds of filters in place for the Google ads. Unfortunately, they don't catch images ads. As you can see, we took down any image-based ads and returned to text-only ads. These ads have to be filtered down through our safety net before they can display. Again, I apologize for the image ads last week that were troublesome; we didn't realize the filters wouldn't catch them. But they're gone forever now, so there's no reason to be worried.

And another thing I mentioned: we will be shortly offering an ad-free version of the site for a very modest fee (probably somewhere in the $50 per year range). This will help us to still cover the operating costs of this site, and also to provide an ad free site to those members who choose to pay for that feature. Again, I am very sorry for the ads that popped up last week. Please don't allow that little mishap to taint your view of CFAITH Communities. We're human, we make mistakes too. Smile

Yes, thank you Doc! We took a step of faith launching this site, and the reality is: it takes a lot of money to keep it going.

    Hence the ads....

So let me hear you correctly - its no longer free if we do not want adds?... correct..

I cannot pay 50 bucks right now, can I give 5 towards the 50 ... and make a lay a way plan ...lol  ....installments..
I know that Google doesn't require you to have the adds on each individual blog but on your homepage.

I can give a few dollars for now,   will a few dollars ($5) disable the adds for a couple months..

I just don't like the adds... for example I saw one that says Jesus Already Returned in the Second Coming... ..
I don't remember Jesus Coming.... was I asleep?

I don't mind the ads...as long as they are christian.  I appreciate the blog space and I understand it's expensive.  Thanks for making it available!

    Admin

Of course it's not going to taint our view. But the point was we don't want some of these kind of ads to cause other people to think negatively of CF Smile

You didn't make a mistake. It's not your  fault no one knew it wouldn't filter the  images. It's OK.

I was wondering is we wouldn't have to have it on the blogs is it they were on  the CFaith  Home page and all the forum pages. That's alot of pages.

Some blogs I know of just have a small strip at the top or bottom for text ads.   I prefer bottom.

    Doc,

I know what you mean. When I see something that is very contradictory to the Word and our beliefs I wonder if we can point those out and have those removed.
