I have been quietly adding some new features to the site. Nothing too fancy, but (I think) some of them are useful.
- Added a counter to the "Inbox" link so that it shows the number of NEW unread private messages you have (you must be logged in for this to work, obviously).
- Added another link to private messages in the member toolbox; it also include the New messages counter.
- Got rid of the "Popular Forums" box on the home page and replaced it with "Editor's Picks". (more info on that is here). Also got rid of the Google ad that was in this box.
- Got rid of the "Support The Community" donations box.
- Got rid of the "Platinum Membership" account idea...CCs will not have a paid account type.
- Renamed all "Support" links to "Help"
- Removed "Help" from the navigation in the upper right-hand corner of the site. Added an "Invite" link in its place.
- Due to clutter, removed the "CFAITH" links from the Main navigation and the Member Toolbox (you can always get to CFAITH any time by typing www.cfath.com into your browser's address bar).
- A few other little tweaks to the member toolbox.
- At the bottom of the "What's New" list, I added an option to view additional "What's New" content. You can now view "What's New" all the way back to the very first post, if you want.
- Removed the "My Discussions" sidebar box from the home page; it's now available as a link in the "Active Forums" box.
- Reduced the number of "What's New" items and "New Photos" to clean up the home page.
- Updated a few of the site's graphics.
- Updated to my new sweet avatar
- Other little tweaks
Still to come:
- I want to replace the "Popular tags" sidebar box on the home page with a "top commenters" or "top posters" list. I feel the tags are getting a little stale.
- (Hopefully) I can find a way to remove the "Email Member" feature from the forums.
- Other stuff I can't remember right now!
