As we are entering 2008 I was curious about the number eight in the Bible. The Lord led me to do a little search on how the number eight was used in the Word. Of course from my own studies in the past and common knowledge I remembered that 8 is the symbol of "infinity" and I remembered that the parties of a Blood Covenant were to walk in between the pieces of the animal in a figure eight repeating the Blessings and the cursings of the covenant. So naturally I see number 8 as meaning Covenant. God made a Eternal Forever Covenant - for "infinity". the Figure Eight walk of Covenant is also used in Christian Marriages, but of course instead of walking in between a dead heifer or turtle dove they walk in between the Elements of the Holy Communion - the bread and juice - the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ.
As I did a word search on "eight" in the Bible I noticed that always on the Eighth Day something happened. Of course with Eight in my mind meaning Covenant I immediatly noticed that the Circumcision was always done on the Eighth Day. In Jewish culture the Day of the Circumcision was a special day, it was a Day that the boy would enter into Covenant with God. Our Day of Circumcision is when we Committ our lives to Jesus Christ and get not just Born-again but WATER BAPTISED... thats how we enter into Covenant with God today... as we walk away from sin and walk following Jesus - He circumcises our hearts and gives us a NEW HEART!
I also noticed that on the Eighth Day there was an Appearance from Heaven; Now before you scream "hearesy" and stone me let me remind you that on the Eighth Day Moses and Elijah appeared with the Lord during a time of prayer - with Peter , James and John as witnesses. On the Eighth Day the Lord Appeared to the children of Israel, on the Eighth Day The Resurrected Christ Appeared to the Doubting Thomas,.... there was always something Great with the Number 8.
One last thing I noticed that there were eight people who were on the ARK, and Noah's Family are a type and shadow of those who have entered into covenant through Jesus Christ and are New Creations. I watched a special on Noah's Ark and how they found it's remainings on Mount Ararat in Turkey. The Word "Ararat" in the Bible means "THE CURSE IS REVERSED"; Go look it up yourself. As New Creations - the Curse is Reversed, NEW BEGINNINGS! Praise God... 2008 WILL BE GREAT!
Its the Year that the Lord Show Himself Strong on behalf of HIS ETERNAL COVENANT that will go on into Eternity - infinity. Its the Year that many many many will come into the Covenant through Jesus Christ and be Born Again. It Will Be GREAT! God has said to those in Covenant with Him, "... I WILL MAKE YOU A GREAT NATION!.....I WILL MAKE YOUR NAME GREAT" The Name of Jesus Christ Will be exalted and Made GREAT in 2008! His Church will Grow GREATLY! GOD WILL REMEMBER AND ENFORCE HIS COVENANT IN 2008!
