Don’t Take The Bait of OFFENCES - How

This was what my pastor – Rev Cheong Yew Kwong, Faith Family Church Singapore taught. And I felt lead by The Holy Spirit to share with everyone.  Especially we are starting the New Year. For GOD do not wish any of us would hindrance HIS best to overflow us in year 2008.

Offenses will come because it is in life (part of life). But because offenses will come, that doesn’t mean we have to let offenses take root in us and drag us down. The word ‘offense’ in the Greek means ‘bait’; it has reference to how people use bait to lure animals to be caught.

Offense is the enemy’s (devil) bait use to lure us into ill feelings towards others. It lures you into bitterness, resentment and un-forgiveness. Don’t let it take root in your soul (emotion.) The longer you allow it to stay there, the harder it is to get rid of it. They are like stains that are left on a white shirt for a long time that cannot be washed off. Once it is not uprooted, it will bring forth sickness in your physical body. Offense is the enemy’s bait to lure you into a spiritual trap rendering you ineffective in your walk with God. Don’t allow offenses to poison you. Let’s look to JESUS who has overcome it.

Galatians 5:22-26 "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness and self-control. Against such thing there is no law. Those who belong to CHRIST JESUS had crucified the sinful nature with its passion and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other”

    AMEN!

“We-The Children of The Lord; enter the gate of New Year with thanksgiving and His court with praise. Let’s give thanks to Him and praise His name. For The Lord is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues throughout all generations.” Psalm 99:4-5

A really good book to read about this is calle "The Bait of Satan"  by John Bevere.  It is excellent.  I think that as Christians we should read this book about every 6 months.

The greatest commandment we are to walk in is love. When we are in offense it stops love from flowing through us and keeps our faith from working.

Gal 5:6 For [if we are] in Christ Jesus, neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith activated and energized and expressed and working through love.

Ada, that was an excellent teaching on offence. It is like a cancer that keeps growing if we don't walk in the light of the word of God and dispel of its evil works.

    Thanks for sharing,

    Jody

Offense can produce a root of bitterness if the offense isn't released. It's easier to let go of the offense before it grows a root of bitterness. Bitter people are not happy and they can contaminate many by the bitterness.

It's so important to wash ourselves with the word of God and let the light of His word reveal anything we need to release.

I guess I'm going to have to get a copy of this book. This is the second time I've heard about it in the last month or so. This also happens to be an area that I really struggle with.
