Doc,
Congratulations....I know exactly how you feel. When I wrote and published my first book,
on the one side was God, heaven and the blessings of it and on the other side of the
project, was the devil and every resistance he could throw at the book to stop it. My
manuscript was even lost in a U.S. post office for over two months...several states away!!
I still had the original manuscript but thought the publisher had it all the time. Consequently,
it really slowed things down when we found out what had happened. Initially, after my
manuscript was accepted for publishing, the company suddenly stopped all publishing
because the managing editor had resigned. This was a subsidiary company of Harrison House.
All accepted manuscripts were returned to the authors and less than five were kept for publishing...
mine was one. And when you say only 3% are accepted...that is an honor and tells us
the content of your book.
You can self-publish but it is always better to have a recognized publisher do it who can help
market the book for you and get it out into the public. It is more expensive but in the end,
you have a much better product that looks nice and will reach a greater audience.
In this digital age of CDs, computers and ipods, the possibilities are almost endless for a
book's message to reach the four corners of the earth. PTL!
Blessings and much continued success in the Lord's work and service,
AmeriKan
